Where RMDB stands in 2026
What User Solutions publishes (checked October 10, 2026):
- RMDB is still supported. User Solutions says RMDB remains fully supported for existing installations.
- New licenses are EDGEBIC. EDGEBIC, which User Solutions calls RMDB 2.0, combines the RMDB scheduling engine and the EDGEBI graphical layer in one application. RMDB plus EDGEBI used to need two installs sharing a database.
- What EDGEBIC adds: a graphical routing designer, Theory of Constraints anchoring, backward scheduling, parallel and alternate work centers, lot streaming, setup matrices, operators and certifications as constraints, a CP-SAT optimizer and a shop-floor kiosk.
- Migration path: export RMDB master data to Excel or CSV, map it once with import masks, check calendars, pilot one area side by side, then expand. RMDB stays available during the switch.
- Price: EDGEBIC is $25,000 (APS) or $35,000 (Complete, adding MRP, inventory, purchasing and material pegging), both one-time perpetual licenses. It's an installed Windows application on .NET 8 with SQLite or SQL Server.
Your options as an RMDB user
| Option | What changes | ERP connection | Cost (published) | Best when |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stay on RMDB | Nothing | Import-export, as today | Already paid; support per your agreement | It works and the floor trusts it |
| Upgrade to EDGEBIC | New application, same engine; data carried forward by import masks | Excel, CSV or database import-export | $25,000 or $35,000, one-time | You like the RMDB model and want to keep a perpetual license |
| Move to Skody AI | Cloud scheduler reads the ERP directly; shop constraints set up in Skody | Live: ProShop, Fulcrum, JobBOSS²; Acumatica and SYSPRO listed | Shop plan from $1,500/month, month-to-month; Plant & Enterprise custom | The plan goes stale between imports |
| Use your ERP's scheduling | Retire the separate scheduler | Native | Included in the ERP | The ERP's board holds through the day |
| Enterprise APS (PlanetTogether, Siemens Opcenter APS) | Larger project and planning model | Vendor integration | Not published | Many plants, enterprise ERP, a dedicated planning team |
What changes if you move from RMDB to Skody
- Where the data comes from. RMDB works from imports. Skody reads jobs, routings and due dates from your ERP over a live connection, so there is no import to run before rescheduling.
- Who reruns the plan. In RMDB the planner reschedules after a data refresh or a change. Skody recomputes the whole shop from current ERP and floor state, and the planner reviews the result.
- What you set up again. Constraints such as shifts, setup families and outside processing are modeled in Skody. Operator skills, workforce and pallets are part of the Plant & Enterprise plan.
- What Skody doesn't replace. RMDB includes MRP, inventory, purchasing, and costing and estimating. Skody doesn't. If you use those features in RMDB, they need to live in your ERP.
- Deployment and price. Every deployment is hosted in ITAR-ready Gov Cloud, SOC 2 Type II. The Shop plan is month-to-month instead of a one-time license.
For the full head-to-head, see Skody AI vs EDGEBIC.
When staying with User Solutions is the better fit
- You want to own the software. RMDB and EDGEBIC are perpetual licenses with no subscription.
- You can't wait for a new ERP connection. Skody has no live Made2Manage customers yet. Like any ERP, a new connection typically takes about 3 weeks after you sign. EDGEBIC works with any ERP that exports Excel, CSV or database tables.
- You use RMDB's MRP, inventory or purchasing. EDGEBIC Complete keeps those in the scheduling tool; Skody leaves them to the ERP.
- IT policy requires an installed, on-premise Windows application.
- The upgrade is easier than a switch. Your RMDB data, routings and scheduling concepts carry forward into EDGEBIC by import masks.
When Skody is the better fit
- Your ERP is ProShop, Fulcrum or JobBOSS² (or Acumatica or SYSPRO), and you want to stop running imports before every reschedule.
- The plan goes stale during the shift, and you want the whole shop recomputed with the same logic every time.
- People are the constraint, and you want operator skills in every recompute (Plant & Enterprise plan).
- You'd rather pay month to month than buy a $25,000 or $35,000 license.
- You want hosted software with no Windows workstation or SQL Server to maintain.
Pricing
- Shop plan: starts at $1,500 per month, month-to-month. Includes machine capacity scheduling, finite-capacity scheduling, automatic conflict resolution, due-date-first optimization, ERP integration, delivery-risk and late-job visibility, planner overrides and what-if scenarios, and production dashboards.
- Plant & Enterprise plan: custom pricing based on scope. Adds workforce capacity scheduling, skills and personnel availability constraints, machine and workforce optimization, pallet pool and multi-part scheduling, lights-out production planning, MES and machine telemetry integration, multi-department and multi-site deployment, and advanced integrations.
- Pricing is per shop, not per user. There is no free trial; Shop plans are month-to-month instead.
- Every deployment is hosted in ITAR-ready Gov Cloud. SOC 2 Type II.

Frequently asked questions
Is RMDB still supported?
Yes. User Solutions says RMDB remains fully supported for existing installations. New licenses are sold as EDGEBIC, which it calls RMDB 2.0.
Is EDGEBIC the same as RMDB?
EDGEBIC is the current generation of RMDB. User Solutions says it carries the RMDB scheduling engine forward and combines it with the EDGEBI graphical layer in one application, adding a routing designer, an optimizer and a shop-floor kiosk. See Skody AI vs EDGEBIC.
What are the best RMDB alternatives?
For most RMDB users the options are: stay on RMDB while it's supported, upgrade to EDGEBIC, move to a cloud scheduler with a live ERP connection such as Skody AI, use your ERP's own scheduling, or move to an enterprise APS such as PlanetTogether or Siemens Opcenter APS. The right one depends on your ERP, how fast your floor changes and how you want to pay.
How much does EDGEBIC cost compared with Skody?
User Solutions publishes EDGEBIC at $25,000 (APS) or $35,000 (Complete) as one-time perpetual licenses. Skody starts at $1,500 per month on the Shop plan (month-to-month); the Plant & Enterprise plan, which adds workforce and skills scheduling, pallets, lights-out and multi-site, has custom pricing based on scope.
Can I move from RMDB to Skody?
Yes. Skody connects to any ERP; if yours isn't connected yet, setup typically takes about 3 weeks after you sign. Skody reads jobs, routings and due dates from the ERP rather than from RMDB, and shop constraints such as shifts and setups are set up in Skody (operator skills on the Plant & Enterprise plan). Shop plans are month-to-month, so you can pilot Skody beside RMDB before you switch.
Does Skody include MRP, inventory and purchasing like RMDB?
No. Skody is a scheduling and decision layer. MRP, inventory, purchasing and costing stay in your ERP. If you rely on those features inside RMDB, EDGEBIC Complete keeps them in the scheduling tool.
Does Skody work with Made2Manage?
Skody has no live Made2Manage customers yet. Like any ERP, a new connection typically takes about 3 weeks after you sign. Live integrations today are ProShop, Fulcrum and JobBOSS², with Acumatica and SYSPRO also listed on skody.ai.
Is Skody cloud-based?
Yes. Skody is cloud software; every deployment is hosted in ITAR-ready Gov Cloud, SOC 2 Type II. RMDB and EDGEBIC are installed Windows applications.
Which ERPs does Skody connect to?
Skody runs live ERP-connected scheduling with ProShop, Fulcrum and JobBOSS². Acumatica and SYSPRO integrations are also listed on skody.ai. Skody connects to any ERP; for one we haven't connected yet, setup typically takes about 3 weeks after you sign. Your ERP stays the system of record for orders, routings, inventory and costing.
